There are six grades of membership within the ICMA:

>> Certified Management Accountant- entitled to use the designation letters, CMA®

>> Associate Management Accountant- entitled to use the designation letters, AMA®

>> Graduate Management Accountant- entitled to use the designation letters, GMA®

>> Management Accounting Affiliate- entitled to use the designation letters, MAA®

>> Student Membership- not entitled to use any designation letters

>> Honorary Membership- available to distinguished persons whose services to Management Accounting and related disciplines in the opinion of the Executive Committee merit this award of membership

 

The admission requirements vary for each grade of membership:

>> For Certified Management Accountant Membership – must have completed the CMA® Program and must have at least five years approved relevant experience in a senior and responsible Management Accounting position

>> For Associate Management Accountant Membership – must have at least three years approved relevant experience

>> For Graduate Management Accountant Membership – must have a degree from a university or equivalent educational institution in accountancy or a related discipline

>> For Management Accounting Affiliate – no management accounting experience is required. It is open for those with either a three-year supervisory/managerial experience or a three-year experience of running one's own business. For those who want to be a management accounting affiliate, you will be required to take up an approved Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program within two years before being granted membership.

>> For Student Membership - must at least be a college graduate

>> For Honorary Membership - this is conveyed by the Institute to distinguished persons whose services to Management Accounting and related disciplines merit this award of membership
